Derrick Carter comes on like a new era version of Jamie Principle -- a real dark groove complete with acidic overtones. There are only a few producers who can get away with making house as warped as this. There's nothing even close to cliche, just a slightly sideways take on the 4/4 phenomenon. 'A Hope (Over U)' has bumpy bass and its dub end style will win many fans. 'Friends (The 1:00 Club)' offer a very bizarre track with its childlike vocals, then there's a classic, straight down the line, dancefloor freaker called 'Do You Believe'. Not the norm and all the better for it.
