Saudi women took to the wheels for the first time after the world's last remaining ban on female drivers was lifted on Sunday. Minutes after midnight, women in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh and many other cities steered their cars through streets in a move that is being hailed as a historic moment. For nearly three decades, outspoken Saudi women and the men who supported them had called for women to have the right to drive. The decision to allow women to drive was announced in last September. It is part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's wide-ranging drive to modernise the conservative kingdom.
