Sony Music Sony Music and Legacy Recordings now have distribution rights to 35 previously released Prince albums. Prince’s estate signed a deal that will allow Legacy to make his music available later this year. This will start with 19 of Prince’s albums originally released between 1995 and 2010, including The Gold Experience, Emancipation, Musicology and more. Legacy will also be able to distribute 12 Prince albums released between 1978 and 1996, and late albums released in 2014 and 2015. While no exact dates have been announced, some music won’t be available until 2021. However, Legacy will not own the rights to Prince soundtrack albums such as the classic Purple Rain.
