Philippine’s FIBA World Cup qualifying match against Australia at Santa Maria’s Philippine Arena erupted into a violent brawl as players, officials and spectators flooded the court on July 2. Tensions boiled over around four minutes into the game’s third quarter as nine Philippine players and four Australian players were ejected from the game. The brawl was sparked when Australian guard Chris Goulding was sent to the floor after he was elbowed in the face.
