Compton rapper Boogie dropped his single “Self Destruction” in May as the first taste of his upcoming debut album. In 2016, after gaining buzz off his first three mixtapes, he caught Eminem’s attention and later signed to Shady Records in October 2017. Eminem says he values Boogie, the first West Coast rapper on Shady’s roster, for his “unique voice and point of view.” “Self Destruction” is co-produced by Ashton McCreight, Mario Luciano, and also Keyel, who produced a majority of Boogie’s songs to date. Eminem and Boogie previewed the song back in April on Instagram, where they also confirmed the debut album is coming this year. On the track, Boogie raps about being conscious of momentarily losing control.
