One of the world’s most popular sandwiches is turning 50 this week. The McDonald’s Big Mac was created in 1968 by Jim Delligatti, who wanted "double of everything." Today, more than a billion Big Macs are consumed around the world each year. “When my great-grandfather Jim Delligatti invented the Big Mac at his grill in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, he just wanted to make his local customers happy,” Nick Delligatti, a fourth-generation McDonald’s owner-operator, said in a statement.
