MOSCOW/WASHINGTON — Russia has enlisted 1990s action movie star Steven Seagal to help bolster ties with the U.S.

Last week, the 66 year-old has been made a special representative to the country by Russia with task of to improving ties and humanitarian issues between the two nuclear powers. Seagal's role will also focus on improving art and cultural exchanges.

Writing on his official Twitter, Seagal — who holds Russian, Serbian and American citizenship — tweeted that he was "humbled and honoured" by the appointment.
