Ikea makes big promises with first Indian store

Ikea, the retail company that revolutionised the industry with affordable, self-assembly furniture with a Scandinavian twist opens its first Indian outlet, with success far from guaranteed. Ikea is present in 49 countries, but its previous attempt in 2006 at reaching India's burgeoning middle class fell foul of local regulations.
