India will celebrate its 72nd Independence Day this 15th August with great enthusiasm and patriotism. It was this day in 1947 when India attained its long sought after freedom from the British rule.
Though the Indian Independence Act was passed by the UK Parliament in the year 1947 and the Indian Constituent Assembly got the legislative sovereignty from Britishers, it's noted that King George VI continued as the head of the state till India became a complete republican constitution.
