A mass wedding has been held in Ramallah. Two hundred and sixty couples got married at an event funded by the office of the Palestinian president. The brides wear traditional embroidered Palestinian robes and carry bouquets of white roses, while their grooms are smart in black suits, white shirts and red ties. The couples sit on stage in front of their relatives as well as Palestinian officials. The event is funded by Abbas's office. To help the newlyweds, each couple receives 2,000 US dollars to begin married life.

Jamal Muheisen, the head of the Preparatory Committee, says that similar events are planned to take place in Gaza, Syria and Lebanon.
