Volkswagen Passat 2018 Car Review
The Volkswagen Passat is usually a large family car manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen since 1973, and from now on in its eighth generation. It has been marketed variously because Dasher, Santana, Quantum, Magotan, Corsar and Carat. The successive generations from the Passat carry the Volkswagen internal designations B1, B2, etc.. Originally (but don't) these designations paralleled those on the Audi 80 and A4 in which the Passat shared platforms. In 2008, Volkswagen launched Passat CC, a "four-door coupé" variant in the Passat. Volkswagen currently markets two variants with the Passat globally. In January 2011, Volkswagen announced the new mid-size sedan (NMS) being built in the Volkswagen Chattanooga Assembly Plant to the North American market could well be named the Passat. Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive also manufactures the Passat NMS rolling around in its Nanjing factory. The NMS is sold inside North American, South Korean, Chinese, and Middle Eastern markets. The Volkswagen Passat NMS won the 2012 Motor Trend Car on the Year. A new Passat model entered production in Europe in 2014, depending on the MQB platform.
