Wilmington, North Carolina, residents who stayed in the area came downtown on September 15to survey the damage from Hurricane Florence.Mayor Bill Saffo said on Saturday, September 15, it would be “months” before the city would be fully recovered from the storm.Downtown Wilmington’s Riverwalk was largely empty, and the Cape Fear River was rough Saturday morning, as now Tropical Storm Florence edged slowly to the west.
