Protesters rallied in Mexico City on Wednesday, September 26, to mark the fourth anniversary of the disappearance of 43 Ayotzinapa Rural Teacher’s College students in Iguala, Guerrero, in 2014.Several months after the incident, the government of outgoing President Enrique Pena Nieto said local drug gang members confessed to killing the students under instruction from police, before burning their bodies in a dumpster. The government effectively closed the case after releasing this version of events, Mexico News Daily reported. However, this version was widely contested by international experts due to a number of irregularities.A special commission into the case was ordered by a court in July this year however, a “coordinated government effort” halted its progress, Al Jazeera reported. The incoming government of President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, assisted by the United Nations and other human rights groups, will investigate the case, according to Reuters. In these videos, protesters are seen marching along the Paseo de la Reforma with banners and flags. The number 43 is seen graffitied on a monument. Credit: esehanzel via Storyful
