Typhoon Trami swept over eastern Japan early Monday morning, October 1, slamming Tokyo and the surrounding region with 85 mph winds. The storm began weakening as it hit land overnight.The storm knocked out power for hundreds of thousands of homes in Okinawa Prefecture on Saturday morning. Flights to and from most airports in Japan were suspended on Sunday, while train services in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe were also disrupted, according to NHK.Later Monday morning, Trami is expected to be off the coast and heading to the northeast.
