The funny thing about Natalie Portman is that, up close, sheswell, every bit as ridiculously good-looking as she is onscreen. If anything, more so. And extremely intelligent, and lively, and by every indication we could see a decent human being to boot. Frankly, its hard not to hate her. But we did our best to control our natural loathing as we talked to her about Goyas Ghosts, wherein she not only plays two different roles but flirts with madness and a really bad make-up day in essaying the part of Ines, a young Spanish lady painted by Goya (Stellan Skarsgaard) before being arrested and imprisoned by the Inquisition, embodied by the ambitious Brother Lorenzo (Javier Bardem).
