Delhi: 3-month-old, in need of urgent surgery, given 2024 date by AIIMS

A three-month-old baby who was given a date for heart surgery in February 2024 by the AIIMS, Delhi, will now undergo an operation next week at a private hospital after her parents approached the heart care foundation of India for help. The condition was realised when the baby was admitted to Safjardung hospital after she suffered from breathing problems. Safdarjung hospital then referred the parents to AIIMS where the hospital asked the family to deposit a sum of Rs 57,000 but gave them a date for the surgery in February 2024, citing a long waiting period.
