Entire populations of the world's cacti have virtually disappeared all over the world.
According to Mother Nature Network, some of that's due to habitat destruction for roads, infrastructure, or mining.
But the far bigger problem is because of poaching by smuggling rings from Asia, Russia, and Eastern Europe.
Illegally collected plants command large sums, and the internet makes it easy to find buyers.
