Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York, is one of the most prolific hip-hop music artists in the world. He and his hip-hop music speak for themselves. He has gotten huge praise since his initial debut “Reasonable Doubt,” which took inspiration from fellow Brooklyn rapper The Notorious BIG. After “Reasonable Doubt,” Jay-Z went on to produce other incredible hip-hop music albums like “The Blueprint,” “The Black Album,” “4:44,” “Watch the Throne” with Kanye West, and “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” some of which were under his own hip-hop music record label Roc-a-Fella.
The artist also has a lot of other ventures outside albums and hip-hop. He has his record label Roc-a-Fella and he's won several Grammy Awards. On top of all that, he used to partly own the Brooklyn Nets basketball team, created his own clothing line Rocawear, and is partly responsible for Tidal, a music streaming service.
