Taheya Carioca Khafir Al-Dark 1936

This is Taheya Carioca's very first dance performance in a film. It's a clip from Khafir Al Darak (The Policeman ) released in 1936. She is not mentioned in the credits of the film at all but curiously enough, Al Ahram ran an ad for this film in 1936 where she is most definitely included among the artists. There is also another famous dancer in this movie (one of the women sitting on the sofa) named Amina Mohamed, who used to work at Badia Masabni's sala and was known for performing with a snake. Interestingly, Taheya Carioca is wearing high heeled shoes which disproves the common myth that Samia Gamal was the first dancer to perform onstage wearing heels.
