The film was shot in honor of the 170th birthday of Nikolay Miklouho-Maсlay and was based on an exhibition at the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) in 2016. The film was shot by the descendant and full namesake Nickolay Miklouho-Maсlay, director of the Miklouho-Maсlay Foundation for the Preservation of Ethnocultural Heritage.
