Mangalagaur is one of the most important celebrations for the new brides in Maharashtra. On the Tuesday of the month of Shravan after her marriage, the new bride performs puja for the longevity and happy conjugal of her husband and the well being of the new family.

1 Mangala Gauri (also spelt Gaur) is another auspicious ceremony that occurs in the Hindu month of Shraavana.
2 The celebrations are carried out on every Tuesday of the month where Marathi women observe Mangala Gaur Vrat.
3 The Pahili Mangalagaur is the first Mangla Gaur for brides that need to be observed within a year after marriage.
4 It is regarded as one of the most important celebrations for the new brides amongst Marathi Brahmins.
5 The festival is mainly dedicated to Goddess Parvati (also called by the name Gauri) and celebrates the bond of Shiva - Parvati.
6 The after hours get together is arranged for the women who adorn themselves in traditional Brahmin-Nauvari Saree. They carry out celebrations until the next morning.
7 Goddess Gauri is worshiped and offerings of food (Naivedya) are made to seek blessing for the well-being of the bride’s new family and successful married life.
8 Traditionally, after the Pooja, women enjoy various festivities that is Mangalagauriche Khel which involves singing folk-songs while dancing and cultural games such as Zhimma, Bhetka, Ghatoda and Fugadi.
9 The main highlight is the famous Marathi traditions called the Ukhane or Navv Ghene where the married women call out their husband's name woven in rhyming lines.
