1 The nineteenth stanza as follows

|| Ya Enam Vetti Hantaram Yas Chai’nam Manyate Hatam

Ubhau Tau Na Vijanito Na’yam Hanti Na Hanyate ||

2 This can be roughly translated as;

Anyone who thinks that this (the soul) is a slayer and the one who thinks that it can be slain, does not understand the truth. Neither does the soul take anyone’s life, nor can it be killed.

3 Lord Krishna is stating that nobody can actually kill anyone in the above verse. The twentieth stanza is as follows;

|| Na Jayate Mriyate Va Kadachin Nayam Bhutva Bhavita Va Na Bhuyah

Ajo Nityah Shasvato ‘yam Purano Na Hanyate Hanyamane Sharire ||

4 Here’s the rough translation of this Sanskrit verse;

(The soul) can never be born, neither does it ever die. It cannot come into existence or does it ever cease to be; it is unborn, eternal, everlasting: ‘cause it is ancient (ageless). It is not destroyed when the body is slain.
