Albert Finney Dead at 82 Finney's family announced
that the five-time Oscar
nominee died after a short illness. The actor rose to fame as the
"angry young man" in the British
new wave film, Saturday Night
and Sunday Morning. His performance in
Tom Jones catapulted
him into international fame. Notable Oscar nominated
performances include the
1984 film, The Dresser and playing opposite of
Julia Roberts in the
Steven Soderbergh
film, Erin Brokovich. Notable performances of the
last thirty years include an
Irish American gangster in the
Coen brother's Miller's Crossing and a gamekeeper in
the 2012 Bond film, Skyfall. Finney turned down
a knighthood in 2000. He overcame
