김정은 숙소 멜리아 호텔 유력...주변 경비 급 강화
We are less than two days from the start of the second North Korea-U.S. summit.
And Hanoi is busy with preparations to greet the two leaders tomorrow.
Standing by in the city is our Park Hee-jun and Lee Ji-won.
Let's go first to Hee-jun who's at the Melia Hotel.
Hee-jun, I hear it's highly likely that it will be Kim Jong-un's hotel.
How are things looking over there?
Daniel.
You're right. The Melia Hotel is widely believed to be where Kim will be staying.
There's been a lot of movement here today, and security has clearly gotten tighter.
Trucks full of armed police have been arriving at the hotel throughout the afternoon, and they've been checking the perimeter for explosives.
The roads surrounding the hotel have also been partially blocked.
And inside the hotel,... security devices have been set up to scan visitors.
The hotel has also notified its visitors of the new security protocol,... saying that it’s for a visit by a Head of State.
Flowers are being arranged in the shapes of the North Korean and American flags.
All signs that Kim Jong-un will be using this venue.
It was originally thought this place would serve as the White House Press Center.
Either the hotel will be used for both purposes, or it's also possible that the White House could move its press center somewhere else.
But an employee confirmed when I asked earlier that Kim Jong-un is indeed going to stay at this hotel.
And Hee-jun, when is Kim expected to arrive in Hanoi?
He's on his way to the Vietnamese capital via train,... and is expected to arrive tomorrow.
Kim is expected to make a stop at Dong Dang Station in Lang Son,... the Vietnamese city on the border with China,... where he's likely to take a car for the rest of his journey to Hanoi.
According to numerous officials at the station, Kim is to arrive tomorrow morning.
The station has been blocked temporarily, so no trains will pass in or out again until March 2nd.
The 170-kilometer road to Hanoi will also be completely blocked off to outside traffic.
Every corner of the Lang Son district is being patrolled by police officers.
Employees have also been busy tidying up the station's exterior for days.
Now President Trump, on the other hand,... will set off for Hanoi soon near midnight, Washington time.
He will arrive in the city around midnight on Tuesday.
And he'll probably head straight to JW Marriott where he's likely to stay.
Daniel.
