UP poll EC, Mayawati face off over covering her statue, symbol

Mayawati has been asked to cover all statues of herself and her party symbol the elephant in all parts of the state, saying they stand against the code of conduct rules and could give political mileage. The Election Commission (EC) late on Saturday transferred Uttar Pradesh DGP Brij Lal and principal secretary (home) Kunwar Fateh Bahadur after major opposition parties accused the two officials of working as 'agents' of ruling BSP. The BSP has gone all out to slam the decision.
