India News: The Planning Commission's recent press report claiming that the overall number of poor households declined from 37 per cent in 2004-05 to around 22 per cent in 2011-12 has invited criticism from several quarters. Congress is bringing out new formulas to show that the poverty levels have declined in India and Congress members like Raj Babbar and Rasheed Masood have brought out rate lists for the availability of a full meal in Mumbai and Delhi, respectively. Questions raised now are that in today's times can someone really have a full meal in Rs.5 as told by Rasheed Masood? If not, then with such formulas, what does government want to prove?
