In a significant step the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has found Parle "Mango Bite" to be unsafe for consumption. It has asked the candy maker to recall its entire stock from the market. According to the FDA, Parle used the banned buffered lactic acid in the confectionery. Officials say that lactic acid causes tooth decaying side effects but can't be declared unfit for human consumption. FDA teams also seized Parle Kachha Mango Bite worth 1.46 crore. The samples have been sent for testing.
