The grapevine is abuzz with rumours about Sanjay Dutt having applied for a leave of furlough for the second time since his final incarceration. The actor is currently serving a 42-month sentence at Pune's Yerwada jail after he was convicted for illegal possession of weapons in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.A source close to the Dutts says, "He has submitted his application and is awaiting its acceptance." If accepted, the 55-year-old actor will get a 14-day leave, extendable by another fortnight.

The last time Sanjay came out of prison was in December last year when he was granted a month-long parole. It was extended by 30 days in January on account of his wife Manyata's illness. Prior to that, he was on a month-long leave of furlough on medical grounds — in October 2013. His prolonged stay out of prison had triggered a controversy, forcing the government to order an inquiry.

The actor, who featured in last week's release 'Ungli', will be seen next in Rajkumar Hirani's 'pk'.
