Diamond heist at Belgium airport bound for India

Days after the audacious diamond heist at Brussels airport, it has come to light that most of the Rs 250 crore worth rough diamonds robbed were to come to Surat. The diamonds would have come to Surat via Switzerland for cutting and polishing. The diamonds were to be delivered to small and medium diamond unit owners there. It is expected that India will face a temporary shortage of rough diamonds following the heist. The brazen heist is Europe's highest-value airport-tarmac holdup in a decade.
