Modi Govt alleged to have mounted illegal surveillance

The much-delayed Snoopgate inquiry may finally be fast-tracked, and that too with a twist — the government may approach a high court seeking the services of a sitting judge to head the inquiry. The original government decision had been to appoint a retired judge. Snoopgate is the media shorthand for charges that Modi-led Gujarat regime had mounted illegal surveillance on a woman architect.
