Karnataka bypolls: Congress’s N.Y Gopalkrishna wins Bellary seat
Congress on Monday wrested the Bellary Assembly seat, considered to be a BJP bastion, in the bypolls in Karnataka. NY Gopalkrishna of the Congress won by defeating his BJP rival, mining baron B. Sriramulu's close aide Obalesh, by over 33,000 votes.
The by-polls were necessitated by vacancies caused by legislators who resigned after winning in the last Lok Sabha elections from Bellary, Chikkodi and Shimoga parliamentary constituencies.
