Government arm backs NewsX report on Scindia ragging

The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued show cause notice to Scindia School, Gwalior after its inquiry team found allegations of ragging to be true. The notice has been issued under affiliation bylaws.

CBSE's action came after it took suo motu cognisance of news reports of ragging and alleged suicide attempt by 14-year-old student Adarsh Singh, son of Bihar cooperatives minister Jai Kumar Singh. However, the CBSE report, sources said, has not gone into other allegations like attempted suicide and rampant use of pornography among students.

A committee consisting of CBSE regional director from Ajmer and other officials visited the school after the August 20 incident. The report was submitted on August 24.
