Lalit Modi to be removed as RCA President

In a major jolt to Lalit Modi, 23 districts today moved a no-confidence motion against him and removed him as the president of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). The motion was also brought against the deputy president, secretary and treasurer of the body.

Amin Pathak has been elected as the new RCA president.

RCA comprises 33 district associations. Twenty-three out of these today called a meeting at a hotel in Jaipur and decided to remove the four officials from their positions in RCA. Amin Pathak said, "After Lalit Modi was elected the president, cricketing activities in the state had come to a standstill. Therefore, we decided to meet and bring a no-confidence motion against him."

The meeting removed deputy president Mehmood M Abdi, secretary Somendra Tiwari and treasurer Pawan Goyal, apart from the president Modi.

RCA elections were held in December last year but the results declared on May 6 after Supreme Court turned down BCCI objections to it. Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi got 24 votes and won.

Soon, the BCCI suspended RCA from its membership pending disciplinary proceedings against Modi on charges of misconduct.
