लोकसभा चुनाव 2019 से पहले नरेंद्र मोदी सरकार ने आरक्षण को लेकर मास्टरस्ट्रोक चला है. सोमवार को मोदी कैबिनेट ने आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर सवर्णों को 10 फीसदी आरक्षण देने की बात कही. ये आरक्षण सरकारी नौकरी और शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में दिया जाएगा. देश की राजनीति में ऐसा पहली बार नहीं है जब किसी सरकार ने आरक्षण देने का ऐलान कर पूरा रुख ही मोड़ दिया हो.
