Boeing 737 Max Groundings
Lead to Many Canceled US Flights The aircraft was sidelined by the Federal Aviation Administration
earlier this month. The decision was made by the agency after two recent crashes involving
the 737 killed hundreds. The incidents have led
Indonesian airline Garuda to
cancel a 50-jet order it had with Boeing. Carriers that use the 737 Max say increased canceled flights may last for months because of the groundings. Each day, 90 flights are now
being axed by American Airlines. The carrier previously used
two dozen 737 Max planes
before the FAA's move. According to the airline, they are
suspending 130 flights a day. American says it is giving out refunds to people who don't change flights after a cancelation. At Southwest, passengers are able to
rebook without being charged extra. Both airlines say they are also
letting flyers know about
cancellations in advance.
