Trump Gives a
Deadline to Close
the US/Mexico Border President Donald Trump
repeated his threat to shut
the Southern U.S. Border in
a series of tweets on Friday. The Justice Department declined
to comment on whether or not
Trump could legally close the border. Customs and Border Protection
Commissioner Kevin McAleenan
described the situation with the U.S.
immigration system as "at the breaking point." Department of Homeland
Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen
said the influx of migrants at the
border is a "cascading crisis." In an series of tweets
from December of last year,
the President threatened
to close "the whole border."
