PM Lee to ask President Moon to declare fire region as special disaster region

South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon convened a second emergency meeting this morning to look at ways to help people affected by the fires.
To free up government resources, the PM said he will ask President Moon to declare the region a special disaster area.
That will help with work to restore residential and commercial zones and to support support people who lost their homes.
He said the fires were put out relatively fast considering their size, but noted the tragic death of one person and the 11 who were hurt, one of whom is in the hospital.
The PM also praised the nearly 10-thousand firefighters, military and police personnel who helped put out the fire.
