Tanya Tucker's singing career started at a very early age, her first hit being when she was just 13 years of age. She continued to have a successful career as she was able to keep her audience as she matured into adulthood.

"What's Your Mama's Name" was written by Dallas Frazier and Earl Montgomery, and recorded by Tucker in 1973. It was Tucker's fourth hit on the country chart and her first number one.
