Mary Wells was one of the forerunners of the 'Motown sound'.
'You Beat Me to The Punch' was released in 1962; it peaked at #9 on the US pop charts and became her first number one on the Billboard R&B singles chart. It also earned Wells a 'Best Rhythm and Blues Recording Grammy nomination.

This performance was recorded live at Little Darlin's Rock 'n' Roll Palace, in Kissimmee, Florida.
