Weekend in Nice: What to do and where to visit?
Nice is one of France's most popular tourist destinations. Its climate, beaches, museums and cuisine attract domestic and international visitors. Located in South East France, Nice is only 8 miles West of Monaco and 18 miles west of the Italian Boarder. Nice was one of the first European cities to become a major tourist destination. And it hasn't lost its flavour. Let's look at some key sites to fill a weekend trip.
Matisse and Masséna museums. The former a showpiece for the renowned artist Henri Matisse.
The latter houses local history exhibits in a Belle Époque style mansion.
Russian Orthodox Cathedral: A splendid monument donated to Nice by the last Russian Tsar.
Parc Phoenix: A huge open park and collection of gardens housing animal enclosures and copious species of plant.
Promenade Des Anglais: A 5 mile tree lined seaside walkway seconded by chic buildings.
La Vieille Ville: (By Day and By Night) By day for open markets and classy lunches. By night for its bars and clubs.
