How Detective Pikachu Is Canon With The Anime

Detective Pikachu is out and it takes place in the same universe as the anime! In other words, it's canon! But you're probably wondering how it is that Detective Pikachu is in the same universe as Red, Ash Ketchum and all the others. There are references to Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, and all other regions throughout the movie. Oh and also, Mewtwo is here. Will there ever be a Pokemon cinematic universe? What do you think?
