S. Korea reclaims top spot for shipbuilding orders in May

South Korea has reclaimed the number one spot in terms of new shipbuilding orders for the month of May, leapfrogging China for the first time in three months.
According to Clarksons Research on Tuesday, South Korean shipbuilders won 16 new orders including some LNG Carriers.
Those orders added up to 640-thousand compensated gross tons, accounting for 60 percent of total new orders worldwide.
China ranked second with 270-thousand CGTs, followed by Japan's 60-thousand.
China still has the most orders in total for the first five months of this year with over four million CGTs, followed by Korea's 2.8 million.
