How to Change Root Password in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS?

Step 1: Go to desktop, right click on it. Click on 'open terminal.'

Step 2: To Change Root Password, type the command below in terminal:-

sudo passwd root

After typing the command above. Hit enter on the keyboard. Provide your password. After that, hit enter.

Step 3: Now, provide the password that you want for root user, and then hit enter. Retype it again your password, and then hit enter key. On success, you will get message 'password update successfully.'

Step 4: If you want to login as root. Type the command below:-

su -

After that, hit enter. Provide the password, and you will be logged in as root. In order to exit from root user. Type 'exit' command without quotes, and then hit enter.
