If Huduma Namba 2019 Bill becomes law, it will become compulsory for every Kenyan to have the Huduma Namba by December 2019.

The bill, which has been tabled by the Interior and National Security Coordination Cabinet Secretary, Dr Fred Matiang’i, will prohibit you from acquiring any government service without the number. The Interior ministry has organised a public participation forum on July 25, 2019 at the Kenya School of Government. One can also go to Huduma Centre offices or deputy county commissioner offices to give their views on the Bill.

After this, the Bill will move to parliament and if it is approved, it will be sent to the president for consent.

The bill comes only two months after the mass registration for Huduma Namba came to a close. Every Kenyan from the age of six years is expected to register for the number. The birth registration of infants is expected to take place within 90 days from when the baby is born. Failure to which you’ll be penalised.
