1. Batata Palha
You'll Need:
- 2 large, peeled potatoes
- 1 tsp salt
- 10 fl oz water
- 32 fl oz oil for frying
Here's How:
1.1 Slice the potatoes into thin strips with a mandoline slicer or grater and soak the strips in salted water for 20 minutes.
1.2 Pass the potatoes through a sieve and fry the strips in a pot of hot oil at 325°F until golden brown. Also known as potato sticks, the Brazilians love topping their dishes off with this crunchy specialty!

2. Tornado Potatoes
You'll Need:
- 3 potatoes
- 3 tbsp butter
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp chopped herbs (e.g. oregano, rosemary, etc.)
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 pinch of pepper
Here's How:
2.1 Preheat the oven to 375°F. Vertically push a wooden skewer through the middle of each potato and use a knife to spiral cut the potatoes. Pull the potatoes apart and spread them along the stick.
2.2 Melt the butter, stir in the garlic and herbs, and season with salt and pepper. Brush the butter over the potatoes and cook for 20 minutes. You'll love this popular South Korean street food!

You'll Need:
- 2 medium potatoes
- oil for frying
- 1 tomato
- 1 green chili pepper
- 1 red onion
- 1 handful of parsley
- 3 eggs
- 1 pinch of salt
Here's How:
3.1 Preheat the oven to 350°F. Peel two potatoes, cut them into thick strips, fry them in a pot of hot oil, and place the finished steak fries in a pan.
3.2 Cut the green chili pepper, tomato, red onion, and parsley as shown in the video and add them to a bowl with the beaten eggs. Season the mixture with salt and mix well.

For the chili:
- 1 red onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp cilantro
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 6 oz kidney beans
- 14 oz crushed tomatoes
- 8 fl oz vegetable stock
- salt to taste
For the fries:
- 1 lb peeled potatoes
- oil for frying
- 6 oz shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 tbsp sour cream
- sliced scallions to garnish
Here's How:
4.1 Prepare the chili as shown in the video in a large pot over medium heat.
4.2 Peel the potatoes, cut them into thick strips, and fry them in a pot of hot oil. Blot the fries on paper towels before dividing into 4 equal portions. Evenly distribute the cheddar cheese amongst the fries and pour a ladle of chili over each portion. Garnish with sour cream and sliced scallions and you've got yourself an American classic!
