Bartoli revels in historic moment at Wimbledon

MANILA, Philippines – Wimbledon ladies singles champion Marion Bartoli arrived back in France after her title-winning exploits. A goal that was 22 years in the making came true for Bartoli last Saturday following a surreal two weeks where those who were favored for the Wimbledon crown crashed out early. This left a final showdown between two players ranked outside the world’s top 14. The 28-year-old Bartoli, who blazed through the shock-laden tournament without dropping a set, faced only token resistance in the final against German Sabine Lisicki. The Frenchwoman was also all praise for men’s champion Andy Murray, who became a British hero on Sunday after he thrashed Novak Djokovic. -- Mornings @ ANC, July 10, 2013
