Top Winners at the 2019
MTV Video Music Awards.
The 36th annual VMAs were hosted on Aug. 26
at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Here are some of the top
winners of the night. .
Billie Eilish was nominated for a total of
nine awards, winning best new artist,
push artist of the year and best editing. .
Taylor Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down”
won video of the year and video for good
and she also won best visual effects for “ME!”.
Ariana Grande received a total of 10
nominations and won artist of the year,
song of the summer and best art direction.
BTS won the inaugural award for best k-pop, as
well as best group, beating out the Jonas Brothers,
Backstreet Boys and 5 Seconds of Summer.
Lil Nas X, who’s song “Old Town Road” broke
the record for longest consecutive weeks at
No. 1, won song of the year and best direction.
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello took
home the awards for best cinematography
and best collaboration for their song “Señorita.”
