MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine unit of AirAsia is temporarily suspending some flights as it diverts resources to affiliate Zest Airways that suffered heavy losses from last month's grounding of its fleet. AirAsia Philippines CEO Marianne Hontiveros sais the airline would suspend its Davao and Kalibo flights in October, and its Taipei flights by November. AirAsia, which flies from Clark International Airport, has yet to decide if Hong Kong flights will be included in the temporary suspension. The international routes will resume in time for Christmas season. Hontiveros said Zest Air will need AirAsia's financial and staffing resources to fly Zest Air passengers who were stranded after Philippine regulators issued a surprise four-day suspension against the latter in August.
