MANILA – The chief of police of Ubay, Bohol was killed in an ambush on Saturday evening. Chief Inspector George Caña was on his way to work when he was shot dead by a group of armed men in Talibon town. A pursuit operation resulted in the killing of six suspects at a resort in Bien Unido town. One of the slain suspects was Owen Rosales, a former police officer who had allegedly turned to illegal drugs for livelihood. Also killed were five men, only identified as Toklay, Arman, Japit, Glen and Iking. Four of their cohorts, including a female minor believed to be Rosales' girlfriend, were arrested. The arrested suspects denied involvement in the ambush. Police claimed the suspects fired shots at them during the pursuit operation.
