ILOILO CITY - An American national was arrested for causing a commotion over his nearly 13,000-peso bill at an Iloilo night club. American Courtney Devon Davis cussed at police, saying it was untrue that he did not pay his bill at the club. "You look at this s***. What crime did I break? No crime. Filipinos don't follow the law. They don't follow the law. They stole my money and I'm being arrested," he said. "Money is not a problem. I will not back down from corruption. The Philippines is a corrupt place." Police remained calm despite Davis' tirade. Davis' girlfriend also showed ABS-CBN Davis' money, which reached nearly P30,000. Davis said he and his girlfriend, Renavic Magbanua, were on vacation in Iloilo City when they decided to go to a night club. There, they got a VIP room and ordered ladies' drinks. Magbanua said they had already paid P5,000 but were surprised when they were given a final bill of P13,000. "May binayad na kami na kami 5,000 plus. Tapos sabi ng manager OK lang daw. Hindi na kami magbabayad ng room tapos magbabayad sa drinks. OK na yon. Pero bakit P13,000?" The manager of the night club, however, denied that the couple had already paid the bill. In the end, the couple still paid their bill while Davis was jailed for alarm and scandal, resisting arrest and oral defamation. Report by Joyce Clavecillas, ABS-CBN News Iloilo City
